Book Fair |

What is it? Coffee and snacks are provided during an assembly. When does it happen? This varies, but usually once or twice per month. Why it's awesome: It gives the Hope community a chance to connect and have coffee:) and also encourages families to join us at the assemblies. How can I help? Jenn and Diana will be leaving Hope after this year. We are looking for two people to shadow them and take over for the 2020-2021 school year! |

What is it? This is an annual event for father figures to share special time with their young girl. It is also a fundraiser for Hope's PTA. When does it happen? What is it? Each year, Hope participates in The Giving Tree Program, in an effort to brighten the holidays for 400 Carlsbad families. When does it happen? Boxes are provided in November and due by early December. Specific deadlines to be provided. Why it's awesome: This is an opportunity for Hope to give back to those in need. It is amazing to see all of the boxes loaded onto the truck and know that it's all going to make some many people smile on Christmas morning. How can I help? • Each classroom is invited and encouraged to decorate a box and fill it up with goodies. • We will also need volunteers to organize all of the presents. More information will be provided as we near the event. • There will be specific directions on what to do. Sign-Up Genius will be your friend. What is it? This group Helps Our Planet Earth (see what we did there)? When does it happen? Green Team events and initiatives happen throughout the year. Why it's awesome: This group focuses on helping out environment through Campus Cleanups, having Idle Free Zones, Reusing, Conserving, and Recycling, as well as finding other ways to keep things sustainable! How can I help? • No more straws, plastic, or foam! • Choose to be Idle Free when waiting in line to pick up or drop off your student • Attend the monthly beach clean ups • Reuse, Repurpose, Conserve, and Recycle! • Look for other Green Team initiatives and events! Other things to know: Campus Clean Up 3rd Wednesday of each month starting at 7:15am
Great Kindness Challenge |

What is it? This is a really fun and special experience. Hosted by Kids for Peace, this is one week dedicated to promoting kindness in a powerful way. Checklists are provided with 50 acts of kindness that can be done by students and families, and daily activities are done during recess and lunch to reinforce that. When does it happen? usually the last week of January Why it's awesome: It supports our whole community (students, staff, families) with finding ways to inspire and experience kindness in their daily life. How can I help? Meg and Aimee always need some help during the week. Please contact either of them if you are interested in being part of that. Monster Mash |

What is it? This is one of the most anticipated events of the school year. It happens right around Halloween and is filled with excitement. It is also one of our biggest fundraisers. Along with games and dancing, there is our annual Trunk or Treat, which invites every classroom to decorate a trunk and have the children fill their bags with treats! When does it happen? October Why it's awesome: It helps us to kick off the year in an exciting way and brings the community together. How can I help? • Each classroom is invited to participate with a car for Trunk or Treat. Included with this is candy donations. • Volunteers will be needed!!! As the event nears, volunteers will be needed to donate treat items, create decor and set-up/break down, for the event. A Sign-Up genius will be created with specifics. What is it? This is a way that we celebrate our staff each month. A family chooses to become the Pride Pal of a staff member and each month gives them a $5 surprise! When does it happen? Red Ribbon Week |

What is it? Red Ribbon Week (RRW) is a weeklong initiative to promote Making Healthy Choices. In the older years, it focused more on Drug Awareness (think D.A.R.E). There are daily themes and activities to promote the different aspects of Making Healthy Choices. When does it happen? October. Why it's awesome: It helps us to kick off the year in an exciting way and brings the community together. How can I help? • Help decorate the outside of the campus • Encourage your child to participate in the daily theme and activities! Other things to know: Well, we made a rap song and video. What is it? Just as we kick off the year with a big event, we like to end it in the same way. We do that with the annual Spring Carnival, an exciting and fun event that also serves as a major fundraiser for Hope PTA! When does it happen? June Why it's awesome: By this time of the year, everyone is tired and ready to jump into Summer. The Spring Carnival is uplifting and helps us to do that, as well as get rejuvenated for the final weeks! How can I help? • We are in need of a Spring Carnival committee. Please contact [email protected] if interested. • Each classroom will be asked to donate specific items. • Volunteers will be needed to set up/break down on the day of the event. As you probably guessed, a Sign-Up Genius will be created. What is it? Each year we dedicate a week to celebrate and appreciate our staff at Hope. When does it happen? April Why it's awesome: We get to spoil our staff! And, it is just what is needed to uplift and energize them for the rest of the year. How can I help? • Each classroom/student will receive the (optional) daily action items that will need to be distributed to the class. • There are usually breakfast and/or lunches provided for the staff.
